The Grafton Branch of CWA held its monthly meeting on Friday September 13, with 15 members attending. ‘Awareness Week’ for CWA was held September 1 to 9.Eye Care Plus were very generous in allowing handicraft articles, journals, andposters to be displayed in their window bringing our aims and our objectives tothe general public.We received many complimentary remarks from the community,requesting that we leave our display next year in the window for several moredays.On Friday September 9 our cake stall and sausagesizzle was held in Bunnings car park.We would like to thank the people ofGrafton for their support on the day.On Friday September 13 Grafton CWA branch held “Tarts”day which is a fund-raising event raising monies for medical research.Theproject we are supporting is ‘endometriosis’, a debilitating condition whicheffects many women.Sister Roslyn Hollis from the Grafton Community Healthcentre was our guest speaker for the afternoon, we were given an insight howthis disease effects women.It can be in a mild form, or a severe formresulting in surgery.Our guests were very pleased with the brochures they weregiven on this subject and will be able to inform their daughters andgranddaughters of this disease.A lovely afternoon tea was served followed by Tombola;all monies raised will be forwarded to CWA head office in Sydney to bedistributed to the research specialists at our State Conference 2020.Grafton Branch CWA will be holding a street stall inColes mall in King Street, selling raffle tickets.Prizes are: 1st – $100 giftvoucher for a coloured canvas print from Harvey Normans; 2nd – basket assortedjams; 3rd – basket of crafted articles; 4th – $40 Coles voucher; 5th – $30 giftvoucher Harvey’s Jewellers.Please support our farmers for ongoing drought relief.Carol Smith .
