There are some shows that just have it all: drama, action, intrigue and the undeniably gorgeous Morris Chestnut running around in tight, sweat-drenched t-shirts. The Enemy Within is one such series, and luckily for us it's just dropped on 9Now.
Here's everything you need to know about the hit drama before you indulge in an all-out binge session. Because, trust us, once you hit 'play' on episode one, you're not going to want to stop.
Who are the main characters in The Enemy Within?
The story revolves around the experiences of Erica Shepard, the CIA Deputy Director of Operations. When Russian master terrorist Mikhail Vassily Tal threatens her daughter Hannah's life, Erica is forced to reveal the names of three agents who had been working to take him down. The agents are killed, and Erica is arrested and sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences without possibility of parole for betraying the CIA.
Will Keaton is an FBI agent, and was responsible for apprehending and arresting Erica. Three years later, he is forced to bring Erica out of custody to join the hunt for Tal and his growing network of spies when the terrorist resurfaces.
What is The Enemy Within all about?
At its core, this is a show about deceit, subterfuge and international espionage, and it certainly doesn't hold back on the drama and suspense. The main tension comes, of course, from the dynamic between Erica and Will. Agent Keaton firmly believes that Shepard is a dangerous traitor for having given up the names of her fellow agents, while Erica remains remorseless for opting to save her daughter's life.
Who stars in The Enemy Within?
Jennifer Carpenter stars as Erica J. Shepherd, a brilliant codebreaker and former CIA Deputy Director of Operations, serving life in prison for espionage and treason. She is recruited by Will Keaton to stop terrorist Mikhail Tal.
Meanwhile, the heart-meltingly handsome Morris Chestnut stars as Will Keaton, the FBI special agent in charge of the hunt for Tal, and a rising star in the FBI Counterintelligence Division. As the agent who arrested Shepherd in the first place, he reluctantly enlists her help on the case.
