GAWLER Strikers secured its sixth consecutive Barossa Valley A-women hockey premiership after thrashing Nuriootpa 9-0 in the grand final on Saturday afternoon.
GAWLER Strikers secured its sixth consecutive Barossa Valley A-women hockey premiership after thrashing Nuriootpa 9-0 in the grand final on Saturday afternoon. Strikers star Hanna Kingsmill showcased her talents once again, winning the best on ground award. Nuriootpa’s Amy Wilsdon also took home a best on ground award for her side. In the A-men grand final, Angaston Moculta United won its fourth successive flag by defeating minor premier Nuriootpa 4-2. AMU led 2-1 at half-time, and continued to push in the second half. Greg Schulz and Jordan Krzoska scored the two goals for the losing side. Rohan Casey took home the best on ground award for AMU, while Dexter Falkenberg did likewise for Nuriootpa. In B-women action, Tanunda easily accounted for Trinity Old Scholars 3-1. Sam Davies was in terrific form, scoring a double on her way to the best on ground award. Jan Falconer scored the other award. Trinity’s best was awarded to Jessie Sims. In B-men, Nuriootpa Green lost to Tanunda Black 1-2. Neither side could be split at half-time, with the scores locked away at 0-0. Nuri veteran Steve Gallasch scored the sole goal for the Green side, while Nick Dry and Rohan Semmler did the damage for the Black. Zac Fuss was named best on ground for Nuri, while Rob Blythman was Tanunda’s best. Nuriootpa took out the under 16 flag with a 5-3 win over AMU, while Tanunda White toppled Trinity Red 2-1 to win the under 13 premiership.
