Its the most wonderful time of year, when the NSW RSPCA holds a clear the shelters campaign and makes it much, much cheaper for you to adopt your new fur baby. For this weekend only, it will cost you just $29 to rescue an animal currently in a shelter.
Even though the $29 adoption fee does not come close to covering the cost of treating and caring for the animals, you cant put a price on finding forever homes for animals in need, the RSCPA said.
There are currently more than 700 animals up for adoption in shelters across NSW, including puppies, dogs, kittens, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, turkeys, ducks and chickens. If you happen to have the land space, theres also a nine-month old sheep called Sheepy, and a 17-year-old miniature horse called Charlie.
In other news, Im moving to the country.
Although last year almost all of the RSCPAs animals were adopted out (2,654 in total), some missed out on finding their forever home, like Kevin the Great Dane / Mastiff cross.
Kevin is a very active boy who loves to play fetch.Sadly, Kevin has been in care for more than 100 days, although hes currently having a welcome break in a foster home.We are hoping this year is his lucky year! the RSCPAs Ashley Stephenson said.
Kevin, I am coming.
