If the fact that Tiny Moving Parts new album breathe is a work of alt-rock art isnt enough, fans of the Hopeless Records signees are heading to Australia for their very first headline tour next month.
Taking breathe across the country in January and February 2020, the trio (Dylan Mattheisen and his cousins, brothers Matt Chevalier and Billy Chevalier) are set to grapple mortality and mental health with the type of sonic prowess that only a band who has seen the true face of both can.
To get you ready, we asked vocalist Dylan Mattheisen to tell us a little more about the wonderful and celebrated Minnesota band.
Get To Know: Tiny Moving Parts
How did your artist name come about?
Tiny moving parts make up the whole is a line in a song by the band Circle Takes The Square. We always thought that was a cool line! To us it means the little things that add up are what matters in life.
How would you describe your music to your grandma?
I never see 70-80 year olds at our shows, so Im guessing Id say our music is loud and obnoxious haha. My grandma wears TMP shirts and even has our exclusive fanny pack. She rocks!

Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what theyre about?
Polar Bear is one of my favourites! The final lines Dont be scared, get ready to fight. I am a polar bear is about being confident in yourself. Believing that you are strong and can live a happy life while overcoming obstacles.
Medicine is another special track. Its about everyone around you coming and going in your life. From funerals, to moving away for good, etc. Having the sadness try not to eat you up.

What do you love about your hometown?
We have an awesome golf course! Golfing is one of our favourite things to do besides music. Benson has a Mexican restaurant called Mi Mexico, and their food is straight up phenomenal! Our family and friends are here too, which is always great!

Career highlight so far?
Doing our first Australian tour, followed up to a SE Asia run was definitely a highlight! That month of playing places we never thought wed ever get a chance to was truly amazing. Last week we played our biggest headliner to date in London. Always having a great time on the road!
Fave non-music hobby?
Golfing! This summer I took some lessons and stepped my game up, even though Im still not any good lol! Sports in general were big fans, love the NFL, NBA, and NHL. Were into hot sauces as well, feel like thats a hobby when youre sweating while devouring spicy noodles or chicken wings!
Whats on your dream rider?
Im pretty content with sugar free Red Bulls and potato chips, but for a dream rider Id say a top notch steak dinner from the most expensive place in the city. Served on a nice plate with Arbys curly fries, macaroni and cheese, while drinking a giant ice cold Diet Coke in a luxurious hot tub! Can we make this happen please?!
Dream music collaboration?
Good question! It would be sick to collab with Blink 182 since theyre the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place. Its be like a full circle thing that would blow my mind. I would also love to collaborate with Drake! It would be out of the ordinary, but that would be sick. Noodling guitars and Drakes rhymes could be incredible, or a disaster.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully moved out of my parents house lol! Maybe move to Minneapolis since its such a great city. Always touring and creating music because thats what we truly love to do!
Whats your go-to karaoke song?
Last week I sang Sum 41s In Too Deep in Germany with some friends. That song is a certified banger! If theres no Sum 41, you cant go wrong with some Miley Cyrus jams!
